Dick McLachlan

Dick McLachlan; A Husband, Father, Grandfather & Friend

Picture
Our dad passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday January 15th, 2011.  The story of Dick McLachlan goes something like this....
Dick always marched to the beat of his own drum.  That was the way he lived his life and the way he left the world, on his own terms, in his own way, surrounded by his family, who were the people he loved the most.  He was a great man and father who showed his love everyday by the way he lived.  He would never miss an important event if that meant working all night on a third shift, driving 3 hours to watch a game, driving 3 hours back, taking a nap and going back to work.  He did not stop at the borders of California; but,  continued all across the country and even into the far reaches of Atlantic Canada, Europe, and Asia, all to show his love and support for his children.
What some may not know about Dick was he had creative and artistic side.  He was a master of creation whether it was handmade tables, a replica of Angel Stadium (to scale) or special birthday cakes that he made for ALL of his children and grandchildren.  (and there are 5 kids and grandkids, that's a lot of cakes!)  His creativity did not stop there. He also had a way with words . He wrote poetry on special occasions that made his sometimes gruff exterior melt away leaving a kind hearted man full of love and life. Those beautiful words always brought tears to your eyes and made you feel like the most loved person in the whole world.
He was a husband of 45 years. A Father of 5 and a Grandfather of 5.  He will be greatly missed by his family and his friends. We wanted to give you this opportunity to celebrate his life with us through this website.  Feel free to share any thoughts or memories you have of  Dick, and know that he is with the Lord, surrounded by his parents and sister, cracking jokes and telling stories.  "like i say"......we love you.
